OLTL: Was the character of Layla Williamson killed off, on leave, or something?

I haven't been keeping up with OLTL for awhile now but I notice that Layla is no longer on there? What happened to her character and what happened between her and Christan? I' am curious about the character since I always been found of the actress Tika Sumpter (Layla) but now that she is on Gossip Girl this season, is the character dead on OLTL?
