New Sports Shoe?

I wanna buy a new sports shoe and have narrowed down to options like Asics, Adidas and Nike. Heard from many people that Asics is a good brand of shoe and that its cushioning is superb. So just wanna ask if its worth paying that high price for it or is Adidas and Nike just at good. Also, what is so good about the Gel Technology in Asics shoe that gets everyone complimenting about it.
