Cash Advance?

I am wondering what place I can go to get some urgently needed cash. I heard of places that give out cash advances but I am not sure what the process is. I was wondering if somebody could help me out in this regard. Also what do they require - do they check credit history check, what is the loan repayment period, etc. Thanks!
